After a nine-year run in Kelowna, BC, and before that (when the 14-year-old event was a moveable feast, in Toronto, Calgary, Whistler and Vancouver), the Canadian Culinary Championships are coming to us. Ottawa will play host to one of the country’s greatest cook-offs, a three-day celebration of our culinary prowess! Eleven chefs from 11 cities will vie for the title of Canada’s Culinary Champion, now held -—and rightly so! — in Canada’s capital, January 30-February 1st, 2020.
Given the scope of that weekend event, the decision has been made to shrink the regional competition (formerly known as Gold Medal Plates) to a more intimate kitchen party, held on November 19th. Which also means that eight chefs will compete this year, rather than the usual ten.
And so… Ta Da!! Les voila:
Ottawa-Gatineau’s 2019 Kitchen Party competing chefs are:
Shane Brown – Beckta Dining and Wine Bar
Ian Carswell – Black Tartan Kitchen, Carleton Place
Justin Champagne – Bar Lupulus
Billy Khoo – fauna food + bar
Ben Landreville – Sidedoor
Daniela Manrique – The Soca Kitchen (2018 silver medalist)
Razmon Poisson – Orto Trattoria
Jason Sawision – Stofa Restaurant (2018 bronze medalist)
