This time last year I was plucking wild rose petals for jelly making on the ridge of the clay cliffs behind my friend Michele Genest’s Whitehorse home, and wandering – past pumpkin hour – the day-lit streets of the city for the Midnight Sun Food Crawl.
I was in the Yukon for the Territory’s first annual Culinary Festival. (This year’s is planned for August.)
It was a grand party of endless feasts, and I met some real intrepids that week – northerners defying the elements to grow and raise some pretty amazing things.
