Are you still hungry? I’ve been awfully neglectful. Moving houses, you see; archiving cookbooks (Why you ask? Why indeed…); reading Michael Pollan’s latest gem (Cooked!) on the dock. He extols us to take command of our kitchens again.
But really, I’d rather eat out. Check out someone else’s command of his kitchen. So I’m now backatit, dining out hard, ready to feed you again, dear blog, with the best bites this town has to offer. And the occasional tales of stuff that must be spit out.
Not planning to do anything of the sort on October the 5h. I plan to eat cookies, many, many cookies. I’ve been asked to be a judge at the 2013 Ottawa Cookie Jam. I can’t imagine anything more fun. Good cause too: the Cookie Jam is in support of Parkdale United’s In From the Cold Program.
Please spread the word to anyone you know who might like cookies…
Here’s more about the Jam, and a link to register.
Ottawa Cookie Jam 2013 is part cookie sale and part cookie competition. Bakers bake 26 cookies and bring them to Cookie Jam, ready to give away. In return, they get to browse the offerings of other bakers and fill a box with 8 cookies of their choice. Bakers can also choose to participate in the cookie competition by sending two of their cookies to the judge’s table. For $6, tasters get to help themselves to 8 delicious cookies, also of their choice, and to watch the drama of the competition unfold. Both bakers and tasters must register in advance. Children and other guests are welcome to attend free of charge: the $6 taster ticket is only necessary if you are looking to collect 8 cookies! For more information and to register, visit www.ottawacookiejam.wordpress.com. Proceeds from the event will support In From the Cold, the hot meal programme of Parkdale United Church.
