NOTE : AMATE IS NOW CLOSED
Was excited by this review and looking forward to some yummy Mexican cuisine tonight, only to find out there is now a take-out sushi place at this address
Yes, quite right. Amate came, closed for renovations, reopened and then closed for good. Sushi Umi opened up about six months ago… take out, but also a few tables. Did you end up ordering sushi?
No, we ended up going to Petit Bills close by, but I must have been thinking about sushi because I ordered the tuna and had to return it because it was too fishy tasting – on a Friday too! I was assured that it had just come in that day. The server was a bit hard to take too, but one of the owners came by and was great – he took away my tuna and offered me something else and took the tuna off the bill. We sat in the lounge area and I very much liked the atmosphere but must say the food was not fantastic. Maybe I was still hankering after Mexican . . .
