Word on the web site is that Marc Lepine’s new restaurant, Atelier, on Rochester Street, will open November 12.

Bear in mind, as you read the review of the Whalesbone in CD on page 190, that chef Steve Vardy is no longer in charge. Vardy moved to Newfoundland in 2007 (though has returned to open the latest installment of the Black Cat Cafe, on Preston Street – stay tuned). Vardy’s young sous chef at Whalesbone, Steve Wall, is in charge of the fish now, and you will find a report on Wall at Whalesbone under the Review category of this site.
Social stands, but Mitton is gone to Murray Street (see review, August 31/08) which makes the page 157 report, as it stands, moot-ish. Restaurant e18hteen chef Matt Carmichael is now managing both kitchens.
